Fork Stuck in the Road

“Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth it was worth all the while”

It crossed my mind recently that it was this time last year Sean and I decided to pack up our lives and go on an adventure. At the beginning of April 2017, I was struggling. I was struggling with my job, my happiness, and just life in general. But things weren’t changing. I didn’t have a lot of courage to make the changes and I didn’t see a lot of jobs I wanted to go after. Anyways, after some serious discussions, Sean convinced me it was time. Talk of moving to Colorado “one day” occurred often, but I always hesitated. It was now or never.

Our move happened faster than I thought it would, but it didn’t give me time to dwell. When we officially moved to Denver and bought our house I was still unemployed. This was tough but allowed me some time to adjust and work on my art. I appreciate the time I took for myself after the move – I needed it. But now that we are both employed I have been thinking about what this year has done for me. I was taken away from my comfort zone and WOW did I need that! Sometimes it is hard being away from beloved friends and family, but Sean and I needed this adventure. We talk about it all the time how Colorado suits us. We are on our own, doing our own thing, and finding ourselves. Colorado has been so great for us – we have been hiking and walking every chance we get. We have been exploring our area and trying new things. Sean has been able to grow professionally and I found a job that I truly enjoy.

This week we have been discussing our summer plans. One perk for my job is every other Friday off in the summer! So Sean and I are planning lots of fun trips around our new state and even back to Georgia. I’m so excited to spend time together and keep chasing our dreams!

Speaking of dreams – I’m still working on side projects, but I also know I need to focus on enjoying my time away from work. That means taking a step back when I feel necessary – including from social media! But please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to work together! I’d love to hear from you! 🙂
